چکیده

Background The relationship between obesity and inflammation is bidirectional. Thus, may influence clinical response to biological treatment. Objectives To investigate the association of body composition with disease activity in patients spondyloarthritis (SA). Methods This a cross-sectional study designed on diagnosed according ASAS 2009 classification. Bath ankylosing spondylitis index (BASDAI), score (ASDAS), functional (BASFI), metrology (BASMI) were assessed. Obesity was evaluated clinically by mass (BMI) waist circumference (WC). Total composition, total regional fat lean mass, android/gynoid ratio (A/G), (FMI), fat-free (FFMI) measured dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) reported as absolute values. Blood samples collected determine C-reactive protein serum (CRP) levels for each patient. Socio-demographic data, comorbidities, physical activity, disease-related variables (duration, characteristics, drugs) also collected. Correlations regressions made SPSS.20. Results Forty-four SA participants (65.9% male) enrolled. Their mean age 39.82 ± 14.20 years ASDAS CRP 1.42 0.86. Patients under biologic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (bDMARDs) showed lower FMI (p = 0.011), percentage 0.008), gynoid 0.01). using CRP, FMI, FFMI, visceral adipose tissue (VAT), appendicular height, A/G not statistically significant. Nevertheless, positively correlated (r 0.352; p 0.019), 0.329, 0.029), android 0.323, 0.032). persisted after adjustment duration (ß 0.355, 95%IC [0.00003; 0.0003], 0.021). Conclusion Gynoid affected our patients. However, fat, skeletal muscle no significant activity. Disclosure Interests None declared

Insulin resistance and coronary artery disease in non-diabetic patients: Is there any correlation?

Background: Cardiovascular diseases are the most common causes of death in the world and type 2 diabetes is one of them because it is highly prevalent and doubles heart disease risk. Some studies suggest that insulin resistance is associated with coronary artery disease in non-diabetics. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association of insulin resistance (IR) and coronary artery disease...

Is There any Mean to Postpone The Menopausal Ovarian Senescence?

The ovarian reserve (OR) gradually decreases throughout the female fertile life. This continuous depletion in OR is irreversible. This occurs through a programmed cell death known apoptosis. Some factors hasten such depletion such as chemo- and radiotherapy. Others have been investigated in trials to preserve the OR including gonadotropins, cytokines, growth hormones, nitric oxide and reorganiz...
